Hi everyone, I am a complete newbie to lock-bumping, and have decided to create my first key.
To start off I went down to Lowes and duplicated an existing key to my house. I filed the key down, and it looks great (in my beginners opinion). It will go into the door and come out with a bit of spring-back (like it should?)
So when I push in the key, pull it back one notch, put some torque on the key with my thumb and give it a whack, it merely goes into the lock and does nothing. I have two photos to show and am asking any of you experts as to what I should fix on my key. I have filed down the shoulder and tip as illustrated in the sticky.

Any advice, tips, or constructive critcism is welcome!

The key which is not working well need lots of work, the valleys and steeps must be uniform and similar. You also need to file tip and shoulder well so that it has some play while hitting with hammer.
