The security industry has had ample time, and numerous methods, to improve the security of lock cylinders - and I dont include the genuine high security cylinders that are in fact "bump resistant", albeit it at a price.

Many manufacturers seem to be relying on the premise that silence is one way of handling it.

A quick check of various manufacturers sites will show that many have dropped the descriptions "Security" and "High Security".

But when you can still purchase a normal 6 pin cylinder, labelled and sold as "High Security" from a locksmith shop I fear we still have a long way to go.

If the industry cannot or wont do it how about canvassing for ideas.

there will always be a way to pick a lock. even if they're fingerprint locks (it was on Mythbusters)
