I do that with padlocks aswell.

Sorry to bump an old thread, but I've been playing around with this method a bit, and I have found at least for Master M1 locks, that if you use the pull out method, not 1 not 2 but 3 clicks, and then apply the tension and smack it, I've been having a 10/10 success rate over and over...

The video has been removed, and a google search for "tuff guy bumping technique" and variations of it brings up a load of completely unrelated results, except for this thread.

Does anyone have any info on this method?

The video wasn't removed, it was just getting too many hits and had to be shut down temporarily. Seems to be working now though

Yeah it works now. Looks like a good method for hurting yourself or breaking the key off in the lock.

If you hit it with the base of your hand by your wrist, it doesn't hurt at all, and by pulling it out 3 clicks like I posted above, you aren't hitting a dead wall so to speak, you following through with the key going in.. And I don't even see it remotely possible to break the key, its too short.

I guess it kind of like raking, but since it actually pops the lock usings newtons law, it's a bump :)
