Newsweek ran an online artice about Bump Keys:

A large majority of locks that open with a key, called pin tumbler locks, have structural weaknesses built into them that can be exploited with picks and practice. But a relatively new lockpicking technique known as "bumping" takes advantage of that weakness and requires no real understanding of how locks work. That's a good focus on critical issue that with the help of bumping lots of locks can be easily opened and it can be learned easily with simple tools.
